Swords, ships, and sagas: children explore Viking heritage

Children from Cobholm Primary Academy became Vikings for the day as they discovered how the fearsome Norse warriors changed British life a thousand years ago.
The Year 4 and 5 pupils found out about the impact of Viking culture on Britain at Norwich Castle Museum’s exhibition Viking: Rediscover The Legend.
The children heard a real Viking saga and explored artefacts such as weapons and jewellery from the 9th to 11th centuries, when waves of Viking invaders brought their traditions, language, and myths to the shores of Anglo-Saxon Britain.
“It was so much fun! We learned so much that we can talk about at school,” said one pupil.
“It felt really good to already know some of the answers because of what we had already learned about the Vikings at school.”
